Ladies and Gentlemen
As Principal-Advisor to Life University, it gives me great pleasure to address all of you on this momentous and memorable occasion. As LIFE UNIVERSITY commences its 1st year programmes today, I would like you to concentrate on the word LIFE itself.
The Oxford Dictionary defines " life " as:
" the state of being alive in a human being " and " an individual person's existence ".
There are 4 main points attached to the word L-I-F-E that are so closely related to LIFE itself that you'd always remember them.
L-I-F-E
First, "L" stands for L ivelong Learning. To everyone present here, we all agree that everyday, for as long as we live, we learn something new. The person who says, "I know everything", really knows nothing.
Second, “I?stands I ndependent Learning. LIFE University has equipped its computer lab with very expensive, very new, state-of-the-art computers, monitors and internet systems. This is because we want you to be able to access information independently, and faster too. We want you to be current, modern and up-to-date in gathering I nformation. We want to empower you to search and I nvestigate things for yourselves in order to help Cambodia I mprove and progress. By the way, “information? “investigate? and “improve?are also ?I ?words.
Third, “F?stands for F ocussed Learning. Now that you have your new-found independence, use this form of learning wisely. The internet can be an information trap. Too much information, too fast, can confuse and distract you. So learn to Focus, and most importantly, learn how to manage the plethora of information you suddenly find in your hands.
Fourthly, “E?stands for E nthusiasm for Learning, and of course, enthusiasm for Life! I see Enthusiasm in your faces as you walk into LIFE UNIVERSITY this morning. May I remind all of US here to always wear that badge of Enthusiasm in whatever we do, and wherever we go.
Finally, as the earlier dictionary definition of “life?tells us that Life is “an individual person's existence? may I add that LIFE UNIVERSITY is not merely an institution of learning, it is also a place where the mind, the body and the spirit is nurtured through a well-rounded education. An education that will prepare you for life on earth as well as for Eternity, when we as Christians will all see our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, face-to-face.
Thank you for you time and patience. May God bless all.
Okun Chhrang!!
